- EIGRP and RIP advertise to neighbors only routes from the routing table (Distance Vector)
- OSPF – every router in the same flooding domain (area) has an identical copy of the LSDb (regardless of the routing table – Link State)
- A route is redistributed only if it is active – present in the routing table (RIB)
- Connected redistribution implicitly occurs for connected links running the redistributed protocol
- Additional connected links can be explicitly included or excluded, which will override implicit redistribution
- Route redistribution is not a transitive operation – in other words, RR does not impact local route selection
